Do you love Golden syrup dumplings? This is a bit of a modern twist on the old classic. Not only tastes amazing but it's really easy to do on the Opzig.

Cooking Style: Camp Oven

Cooking Time: 20 minutes


Dough balls-

1.5 cups Self Raising flour

1/3 cup sugar

30g butter

1 teaspoon vanilla


Salted Caramel sauce-

2 cups water

30g butter

1.5 cups brown sugar

1.2 teaspoon salt


  1. In a saucepan or camp oven, add all salted caramel sauce ingredients. Slowly bring to a simmer and stir until sugar dissolves. Taste and adjust salt to suit your own tastes.
  2. While the sauce is coming to a simmer, in a bowl, mix flour and salt, sugar together then rub through 30g butter until all is combined. Add vanilla and enough milk to make a slightly wet damper mix. Roll into little balls then add to simmering sauce.
  3. Pop lid on and allow to simmer gently (heat diffuser is handy) for 20 minutes. 

Serve with vanilla  ice cream, whipped cream or custard.
